Driver Is Accused Of Trying To Hit Cop

Authorities arrested a man accused of almost ramming his vehicle into a detective who responded by firing at the vehicle and hitting the driver in the wrist Saturday.  Jose Antonio Medellin was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant.  He was waiting to be transferred to Bexar County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Police said Medellin drove a 1998 Toyota 4Runner with its high beams on as he tailgated two detectives in an unmarked vehicle traveling east on loop 410 toward interstate 35.  Medellin then sped past the officer4s gold Chevy Malibu and cut them off as he got on to the interstate.

Detectives report the man appeared intoxicated and that they followed until they could pull up next to the gray SUV.  One of the officers rolled down his windown and displayed his badge, but Midellin verred into their Chevrolet Malibu forcing them to swerve to avoid a collision according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
